Numb

by: Kashif Javed

Expression of my helplessness in wake of the atrocities committed against the muslims around the world.

As morbid as living dead we walk

Oblivious of pain within our creed

The reek of blood has seamed within

As youth ashamed of self we breed

As we look away from the endless rape

And then persist with the shameless gait;

We Curse the heavens and stars of luck

Disgraced, accept the hand of fate

Illustrious past we don’t forget

Those men we name our children by

Should they be called to fight again?

Or divine help   descends the sky?

They mock and laugh at our helpless state

As we lay unmoved at their cruel boots

If our stagnant blood has a hint of warmth

Let’s shun languor from our very roots

We may yet have in our hollowed bones

The strength to stand with pride, upright

The fire they lit has burnt our homes

But may just melt our hearts to light

Our burdened souls are weak and frail

But may just carry our futures weight

Destiny a mere illusion in time

Its men who make a nations fate

Fear imprisoned our selfs for long

Let hope now set our children free

I know that life is a precious gift

But would we live, if we are not free
